Blue Lias







The cliffs at Lyme Regis from which Mary Anning excavated her fossil finds.
Part of the Blue Lias, a geological formation of alternating layers of shale and limestone, which formed a shallow seabed during the Jurassic era, they are continually eroded by storms and rainfall, exposing fossils until the next tide washes them away.
